Voyager
Voyager is a mini - collection inspired by escapism and fantasy when the world is rife with trauma. It is about being able to find peace in the things we can control, enabling the wearer to travel into another universe when she slips on these clothes.
Infusing a persona of escapism in the collection transports us to our own fantasy world, embedded with childhood memories and freedom, away from the stressors of day to day life.

The first design was inspired by Alice in Wonderland with the wild colours featuring in this Liberty Of London print. As I infuse a bit of my own childhood inspirations into the work it reveals a playful yet elegant silhouette for the modern woman. Its playfulness can also be observed through its asymmetry, no two pieces on this dress are the same.

As part of the styling of this collection I designed a pair of heels that would move like the flounces of the dress and reflect light in beautiful ways. Heavily inspired by Jacquemus Lavandes sandals, I altered an acrylic heel to suit my design. As the bottom of the skirt would be slightly sheer I went with beads in complimentary colours to the dress.
The exposed crinoline design was inspired by the darker side of Tim Burton. Movies such as Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas or Frankenweenie were the fantasy films I was more acquainted with as a child and continue to watch as an adult.

The piece consists of a connected corset and crinoline made from a black satin with a black tiered chiffon skirt that is separate. Its styling features hair chains with some of the teardrop crystals used on the skirt of the first look. Much like the teardrop cutout in the corset, these are nods to the first design.
